Upcoming Workshops

Refine your skills or learn something new. Membership is not required. All prerequisites and PPE required are in the class description.
 
You must register for the class in advanced. Registration ends 24 hours before the start of a class. Cancelations and transfers must be requested 8 hours in advanced of the workshop at [email protected]. Click on the dates below to view available workshops.

If you would like to register for multiple workshops, please complete each transaction separately.

Types of Workshops at FUSE

FUSE offers several kinds of workshops.  All workshops are open to members and non-members and include materials and reference handouts. Trainings range from 2-4 hour single-session workshops to 5-8 hour multiple-session workshops, depending on the skills involved. Our workshops include:

Operation and Safety Trainings are required to use FUSE and each specific equipment area has its own Operations and Safety Training. Intro to CNC Plasma, Intro to CNC Shopbot, Intro to Laser Cutter, etc. There is not a general FUSE safety training.

Make and Take workshops walk you through a specific project start to finish ie. Cutting Boards, Tool Box. Before signing up for a Make and Take, please check you have completed the Operations and Safety Trainings for the equipment areas that will be utilized in the workshop.

Ages:

We expect active adult supervision of any minor under the age of 16 at all time. Children under the age of 16 must be supervised at all times while working in the space.

  • Minors must be between 12-17 years of age to be eligible for membership.
  • Minors 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or designated adult at all times and are not allowed to have keys to the space.
  • Parents/Legal Guardians are responsible for their children and their actions.
  • Minors under the age of 18 must have waiver of liability form signed by a Parent or Legal Guardian.
  • Minors 16 through 17 years of age may use designated equipment and areas independently. Some equipment/areas (Wood Shop and Metal Shop) require direct supervision of a parent, legal guardian or authorized adult or are restricted from use altogether.
  • Parent, legal guardian or designated adult must take and pass the Operating and Safety trainings for all pieces of equipment on which they will be providing supervision to minors.
  • Parent, legal guardian or designated adult must pay for their seat when in-class supervision is required (exceptions will be made for adults who have previously taken the class)

Reschedule:

Email [email protected] or call the FUSE front office (505-224-3873) as soon as possible, minimum of 8 hours before the start of the workshop to reschedule.

Running Late:

Call the FUSE front office (505-224-3873) if you are running late. Class spots will be released to anyone on the waitlist 15 minutes after the start of class.  If you arrive more than 15 minutes late and have not contacted us, you will be considered a no-show. You will not be refunded, and you will not be allowed to join the class, even if no one on the waitlist has claimed your spot. Late arrivals disrupt class and impact the experience of other participants.

Cancelation, No-Show, & Refund

 Email [email protected] or call the FUSE front office (505-224-3873) as soon as possible.  Our workshops frequently sell out in advance and early notification allows us to offer a spot to someone on the waitlist. 

No-shows and cancellations less then 8 hours before the training will not be refunded or rescheduled. 

When requesting a refund email [email protected] Refund will only be granted when contacting FUSE 8 hours in advanced of the workshop. The payment processor retains a 3% fee that is non refundable and will take 3-5 business days for the system to process the refund to your card.

An active membership grants access to all areas of FUSE for which the member has successfully completed Operations and Safety Training. We recommend that you take an Operations and Safety Training before purchasing a membership.

The Internet of Things & Rapid Prototyping Bootcamp will teach you the fundamentals of creating and coding smart connected devices built around low-power computer chips.  

  • Critical thinking and project selection
  • Building a smart lighting controller 
  • You will learn about devices for smart cities and/or smart manufacturing 
  • Design thinking to develop a group project 
  • Fundamentals of circuit design, coding C/C++, and integration 
  • Micro-controllers and Cloud-based IoT controllers
  • 3D modeling and rapid prototyping skills

Throughout the bootcamp, you will hear from industry experts on the current trends and use cases involving IoT. Students will demonstrate their learning and projects to a group of prospective employers.
